Number 84: Give premium Grovo. What does that mean? Well, Grovo is a fantastic website that is full of hundreds of video tutorials. High quality, beautifully produced video tutorials which teach people how to use various websites and web services. So for example, you can go and learn how to use the Google Chrome browser. Or you can go and learn how to use Basecamp or Google Docs or Google Analytics or Asana Project Management or Twitter or Facebook or LinkedIn.
There's a whole bunch of free videos on Grovo and there is also a premium membership which I think, the last time I saw, was about a hundred dollars a year. And the premium membership gives you a whole bunch of videos on how to use the internet for business strategy and how to use these tools to drive business goals and business strategy online.
What I like to do is give my good clients a premium membership to Grovo. I just pay for it for a year and say, “Hey, I've just given you a premium membership to this website. Go and watch some of these videos and learn what's possible. And learn what we can do with Facebook and Twitter and LinkedIn.”
They fuel up. They get a better understanding of what's possible with online marketing strategies. And then invariably they come back to you and say, “Great. We want to do some SEO now.” Or, “We want to run some competitions on Facebook to get engagements.” Or, “We want to do XYZ. Can you help us?” And you pick up extra consulting work. It might just be putting together email templates so that when they capture leads from their Facebook page, there's an email nurture campaign.
Whatever it is, you'll pick up extra consulting work because your clients are better educated and they know what's possible. And they'll love you for giving them these premium resources and footing the bill. And if you're getting paid good rates to build websites, then you should have a little bit of marketing budget allocated to do these kind of things. I mean, it's a hundred bucks a year for premium Grovo membership.
