Number eight: Useful Dashboard
Good Day I'm Troy Dean from Video User Manuals and Agency Mavericks and this is the 101 Ways to Elevate Yourself and Demand Higher Fees.
A practical guide for WordPress consultants to start attracting better quality clients, work on better more interesting projects and get paid better fees. Now let's go elevate.
Number eight. Give them a useful dashboard.
So in the initial client meeting another thing I like to show my clients is what their website business dashboard is going to look like and I use the white label CMS plug-in and the Google analyticator plug-in, two free plug-ins that we make. Yes we do actually eat our own dog food. We do use our own products.
These plug-ins allow, the white label CMS plug-in, allows you to install removal of the usual WordPress panels from the dashboard and install a custom welcome panel that says ‘Hey John, welcome to your new website. Watch the video below to learn how to use this dashboard and start adding content to your new website within a few minutes and then I just made a generic video without any client names in it so I can use it over and over again and that little generic video I just the host from Vimeo and I stick the Vimeo embed code in there and the video says ‘Hey, welcome to your new website. Thought I'd just show you around and show you how this dashboard works and then directly underneath that panel I install an RSS feed from my blog, so every time the client logs in they're going to get online marketing tips and tricks and then to the right of that I install the Google analyticator plug in which shows them their Google analytics report over the last 30 days and I show this to my potential new clients in the first meeting and say
‘This is what your website business dashboard is going to look like. There's going to be a welcome video that shows you how to use it. There's going to be an RSS feed here which gives you online marketing tips and tricks to always keep you up to date. And there's going to be a traffic report here that shows you who's visiting your website and how your website's performing. No one else is doing this. No other web designer they've ever met has shown them a business dashboard like this and it instantly elevates you above the pack.
In the next episode I'm going to talk about the importance of valuing your time because if you don't value your time, your clients sure as hell won't. Until then, go elevate.
