Number seventy: Check the index
Good day, I'm Troy Dean from Video User Manuals and Agency Mavericks, and this is the 101 Ways to Elevate Yourself and Demand Higher Fees: a practical guide for WordPress consultants to start attracting better quality clients, work on better, more interesting projects, and get paid better fees. Now, let's go elevate.
Number 70: Check the Index.
If your client's website is called clientwebsite.com.au, just go to Google and type in site S-I-T-E and then a colon, that's two dots and then clientwebsite.com.au and see if your client's website is in the Google index. That's the way to test whether or not Google knows about your client's website. I'll put the link to all this information in the show notes under this video.
What I like about this is that if you can show your client that their website is in the Google index, send your client a screenshot and say, “Hey just thought I'd let you know we've built this website for you and look – Google already knows about it.”
Now, if you've verified the client's website in Google Webmaster Tools and you're using WP SEO by Yoast chances are your client's website will appear in the index pretty quickly. So, send them a screen shot of this and say, “Hey look Google already knows about the 17 pages that we've built for your website and they're already in the index.”
That's a big win. It goes a long way to further strengthening the relationship that you have with your client. So, check the Google index and make sure your client's website is in there.
In the next video you'll learn the importance of backing up. Until then, go elevate.
