Number sixty-five: Don't be too eager to get paid
Good day. I'm Troy Dean from Video User Manuals and Agency Mavericks, and this is the 101 Ways to Elevate Yourself and Demand Higher Fees: a practical guide for WordPress consultants to start attracting better quality clients, work on better, more interesting projects, and get paid better fees. Now, let's go elevate.
Number 65: Don't be too eager to get paid. Now we all love getting paid. I guess what I'm saying here is when you launch a website, maybe send an invoice two or three days after you launch the website; not the same afternoon or the following day, because it just leaves a little bit of bad taste in their mouth if the website has just been launched and here's an invoice straight away. “Hey, pay me.”
What I like to do is send them the champagne and chocolates. Send them a congratulations email. Make sure they've got their hosting details. Make sure the website's verified with Google. So at this point in time they absolutely love my pants, and then I send them an invoice, and there is not question that invoice is going to get paid straight away.
So just think a little more strategically about when you invoice your clients the final invoice to make sure that you get paid on time, but also make sure that the relationship moves forward intact and that the relationship stays healthy.
In the next video, you'll learn one little piece of software that you should have installed on every website. And I've seen so many times websites go live without this little piece of software installed, and it's very detrimental. Until then, go elevate.
