Number sixty-one: Say Thank You
Good day. I'm Troy Dean from Video User Manuals and Agency Mavericks, and this is the 101 Ways to Elevate Yourself and Demand Higher Fees: a practical guide for WordPress consultants to start attracting better quality clients, work on better, more interesting projects, and get paid better fees. Now, let's go elevate.
Number 61: Say thank you when you're clients pay you, particularly if they pay you promptly. It's very easy to ignore the commercial part of a relationship. And most people do, because sometimes talking about money is a little bit uncomfortable and a little bit awkward. But if you can get comfortable having those awkward conversations, then you'll elevate yourself as an above average web developer, which is the whole point of what we're talking about here.
So when a client pays you, particularly when they pay you on time, just send them a quick email and say, “Hey, thanks very much for the prompt payment. It's much appreciated.” It shows that you're okay having those conversations about money, and what it also means is that when they are late paying, it's okay to email them and say, “Hey, just wanted to see where that invoice is and why it hasn't been paid. Could you please sort that out?”
So get comfortable having conversations about money, and the easiest way to do that is to just send your clients a quick thank you when they do pay you on time. In the next video, you're going to learn why it's irresponsible to launch a website without an SEO plugin and which one you should use. Until then, go elevate.
