Number thirty-seven: Show TED Talks
Good day, I'm Troy Dean from Video User Manuals and Agency Mavericks. And this is the 101 Ways to Elevate Yourself and Demand Higher Fees, a practical guide for WordPress consultants to start attracting better quality clients, working on better, more interesting projects, and get paid better fees. Now, let's go elevate.
Number 37, show TED Talks. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, just go to TED.com and have a look at some of the TED Talks that have been given around the world at the TED Conferences.
The reason that I like to send my clients links to TED Talks is for two reasons. First of all, they're extremely entertaining. The videos are great. The talks are usually absolutely world class. They're informative, and very educational, and very entertaining and fun to watch.
But second of all, it shows my client that I'm, actually, not just a web developer but I'm a business person. That I'm interested in business. I'm interested in innovation. I'm interested in technology. I'm interested in design. I'm interested in education. I'm interested in providing the best experience I can for my clients and I'm interested in my clients being successful.
So I might send them a TED Talk that has got a lot to do with business but nothing to do with web design, nothing to do with online.
It might be a TED Talk on how to get your staff to buy into your company's culture or whatever it is.
It's just a way of me adding value to my prospect without talking about my proposal and without selling my wares and without, you know, going through that horrible kind of job interview process that we do when we first meet a client for the first time.
So, showing TED Talks provides value for them, and positions me as someone who cares about business and cares about success.
In the next video, we're going to talk about the importance of case studies and how to put them together. Until then, go elevate.
